Welcome to CEDAR. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CEDAR's co-parenting communication documentation service ("Service"). By creating an account or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using CEDAR, you confirm that you:
- Are at least 18 years of age
- Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
- Are not prohibited from using the Service under applicable laws
- Will use the Service only for its intended purpose of legitimate co-parenting documentation
If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use our Service.
2. Description of Service
CEDAR provides a platform for separated and divorced parents to:
- Sync and archive email communications with their co-parent
- Receive AI-powered analysis of communication patterns and tone
- Generate court-ready PDF documentation and reports
- Maintain an immutable, cryptographically verified archive of communications
- Share access with authorized parties such as attorneys, mediators, or courts
3. Account Registration and Security
Account Creation
To use CEDAR, you must create an account and provide accurate, complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of your account information.
Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach
4. Acceptable Use Policy
Permitted Uses
CEDAR is designed exclusively for legitimate co-parenting documentation purposes, including:
- Documenting communications related to child custody arrangements
- Creating records for legal proceedings, mediation, or court review
- Maintaining organized archives of co-parenting correspondence
- Sharing documentation with legal representatives or courts as needed
Prohibited Uses
You agree NOT to use CEDAR to:
- Harass or intimidate: Use the Service or its reports to harass, threaten, or intimidate your co-parent or any other person
- Manipulate or misrepresent: Attempt to alter, falsify, or misrepresent archived communications or reports
- Unauthorized surveillance: Monitor communications without proper legal authority or in violation of applicable laws
- Abuse legal processes: Generate reports for frivolous or bad-faith legal claims
- Violate privacy: Access or attempt to access another person's account or data without authorization
- Circumvent security: Attempt to bypass, disable, or interfere with security features of the Service
- Reverse engineer: Decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer any part of the Service
- Commercial misuse: Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service without authorization
- Illegal activities: Use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable laws or regulations
5. Gmail Integration and Data Access
By connecting your Gmail account to CEDAR:
- You authorize us to access emails between you and your designated co-parent email address(es)
- You confirm you have the legal right to document these communications
- You understand that access is read-only; we cannot modify or delete your emails
- You may revoke this access at any time through your Google account settings
You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of CEDAR complies with all applicable laws regarding email monitoring and recording in your jurisdiction.
6. Intellectual Property
Our Intellectual Property
CEDAR and its entire contents, features, and functionality (including but not limited to software, design, text, graphics, and logos) are owned by CEDAR and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Your Content
You retain ownership of your email content and any data you provide to CEDAR. By using our Service, you grant us a limited license to:
- Store, process, and display your content as necessary to provide the Service
- Analyze your content using AI to provide the features described in our Service
- Create derivative works (such as reports and summaries) for your use

Not Legal Advice
CEDAR IS NOT A LAW FIRM AND DOES NOT PROVIDE LEGAL ADVICE. The Service provides documentation and analysis tools only. Any reports, analyses, or summaries generated by CEDAR:
- Are not legal advice and should not be treated as such
- Do not create an attorney-client relationship
- Should be reviewed by a qualified attorney before use in legal proceedings
- May not be admissible in all courts or jurisdictions

AI Analysis Disclaimer
Our AI-powered analysis features:
- Provide automated analysis that may not be 100% accurate
- Should be reviewed and verified by humans before reliance
- Do not constitute professional psychological or legal assessment
- May not capture all nuances of human communication
Service Availability
We strive to maintain reliable service, but we do not guarantee:
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- That the Service will meet all your requirements
- That any errors will be corrected
- Compatibility with all devices or systems
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- CEDAR AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
- OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO CEDAR IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
- WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE OUTCOME OF ANY LEGAL PROCEEDINGS IN WHICH CEDAR DOCUMENTATION IS USED.
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on certain damages, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CEDAR and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Any content you submit or transmit through the Service
10. Account Termination
Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion feature in the Service. Upon termination:
- You may request an export of your data before deletion
- Your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy
- Any unused subscription fees are non-refundable unless otherwise required by law
Termination by CEDAR
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without prior notice, if:
- You violate these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy
- We reasonably believe your use of the Service is harmful to others
- We are required to do so by law
- We discontinue the Service (with reasonable notice)
11. Dispute Resolution
Informal Resolution
Before initiating any formal dispute resolution, you agree to first contact us at legal@cedarcoparenting.com to attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will work in good faith to resolve any issues within 30 days.
Arbitration Agreement
If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and CEDAR agree to resolve any claims through binding arbitration, rather than in court, except that either party may bring claims in small claims court if they qualify.
- Arbitration will be conducted by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules
- The arbitration will take place in the United States
- The arbitrator's decision will be final and binding
Class Action Waiver
YOU AND CEDAR AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
13. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by:
- Posting the updated Terms on our website
- Updating the "Last Updated" date
- Sending you an email notification for significant changes
Your continued use of CEDAR after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Service.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and CEDAR regarding your use of the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
